breast reduction surgery in verona
BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY
The excessive volume of the mammary glands can affect very young patients or, more often, middle-aged patients for whom the problem has aesthetic, social and postural connotations. Poor agility in sports, excessive load on the spine, discomfort in the most common activities, difficulty finding suitable clothing, are the most frequent reasons why patients come to the clinic with the request to reduce their breasts.
The procedure involves the reduction of the glandular component and skin remodeling in order to bring the size and position of the breasts back to a value proportionate to the patient's build. The breasts remain extremely natural in texture, softness and tone.
This procedure results in aesthetic scarring around the nipple vertically from the nipple to the sulcus and along the breast sulcus (anchor scar). The operation takes place under general anesthesia and lasts just under 3h. Full functional recovery occurs in about 3 weeks, but the freedom of action for the most common maneuvers is already achieved in 5-6 days.
POST-OP
The discharge takes place in the evening with the appropriate post-operative bra , with adequate antibiotic and anti-inflammatory therapy. If there are drains, a quick dressing is arranged for the next day to remove them, otherwise the first check will happen after 5/7 days.
The first checkup consists of lightening the few patches present on the breast. The wound dressing is changed and the patient can wear the post-operative bra with even greater ease. In this phase all arm movements are allowed without load and without excessive extension above the shoulders. It is not yet possible to shower completely, but in most cases patients already start driving and going to work (if sedentary).
After 12/14 days we’ll have a second medication, after which you’ll have full freedom. It is common for patients to be able to resume any type of work activity, to drive and to shower. It will be necessary to wait another 10/15 days before being able to fully resume sport activities.
